Before your first session

Please read prior to your AntiGravity® Yoga session

If you are  a first timer to AntiGravity® Yoga (AGY) “Welcome”  and get ready to have fun learn new moves exercises and fly.  AntiGravity® Yoga is for everyone and loads of fun.   You will have to have a brief review sign forms prior to any AGY yoga class or private session so that we are aware of any injuries or contraindications, or anything we may need to know prior to you attending a AntiGravity® Yoga session.  Your 1st session, when you arrive it is important that you write  everything on your forms so we can help & assist you in the class. If you do not let us know all your medical  history then you may have some challenges during your session (class)  as some of the poses may not suit you.  1 example:  if you have a lower back challenge then we advice you which  poses will suit you, as some of them will have to be modified. Another example if  your have neck injuries then we have to modify some poses for you. We also like for you to inform us of any injuries or challenges that you have in your body and your history of exercise. We are here to support you in your antigravity yoga journey. By letting us know what is happening in your body,  we can then tailor the poses to suit you and will be  able to assist you in your class.

Class Etiquette & What to Expect

Please arrive 15 minutes before a class.  If you do not this disrupts the class and the rest of the group have to wait for you to set up and adjust your hammock. Session will start on time so if you are late you will miss the intro and will have to wait until the next exercise. Discomfort adjustment – this will subside after few classes. (You may feel the hammock working the lymphatic system under your arm pits and hip region.)

What to bring and wear to a class

You must wear long sleeves top and long pants & socks, as you may get hammock marks on your skin so wearing a long sleeve t-shirt, long pants will help you with all the poses. Hydrate as needed we will have breaks. Remember your body is made up of over 70% water so you must hydrate drinking 2 litres water a day to replenish your mind-body & spirit. This will stop the afternoon tiredness – slump that you may be having.  Please Bring water bottles and towels as you will perspire and may need to wipe yourself down. Make sure you have had a light snack only 2 hrs prior to AGY session. Turn all cell phones mobiles off. If you do not this disrupts the class  flow.

Do not drink coffee before the class or alcohol. Do not drink alcohol the night before as you may feel sick in the hammocks. No bling at all – no jewellery, no belly rings no wedding rings, no earrings, no watches or long  nails as it will tear and rip the hammocks. No fake tan or makeup as it will mark the hammocks. We supply water  and we also have mints and Anzac cookies for you to snack on if you have low blood pressure. Cups of hot water and or tea are also supplied during the session. DOyour best to drink lots of water the night before your class keeping your body hydrated. Some people do feel a deep tissue massage and lymphatic drainage massage after the session.

About Your Safety

We take your safety seriously.  Christopher Harrison created the benefits of zero compression with the aid of a hammock. His performance team uses the hammocks to fly people 40  feet and even 500 ft above the ground, so please trust and have fun. Your hammocks are rigged by professional engineers, builders and riggers  hold up to 500 kg per hammock.  Hammock rating; “well over 1000 pounds at very point” (500 kg). All our classes and private sessions are only 2 ft off the ground. Our Teachers  after demos will get out of the hammocks and help you -assist you in your poses if you are being challenged or need us.  At the moment we teach, 8 styles of classes for you to choose from.

Contraindications

Because we do inversions we always ask if anyone has had any surgeries, back, spine injuries or  High blood pressure, glaucoma, pregnancy, travel or motion sickness, headaches, or Botox  or colonics within the last 24 hours before your AGY yoga session. If you get  dizzy get out of your hammock and lie down immediately, until it subsides.  After a few classes this will subside. If you do get headaches or migraines please do not stay upside down for too long –  If you do get migraines please only invert for 30 secs at a time (time your self until you are used to being upside down.)
